New Device for Gas Heaters Offers Relief from Rising Energy Costs
Power Smart Heat Miser
Power Smart Heat Miser, an add-on device for gas forced-air heaters that optimizes gas consumption, cutting energy bills by as much as 40%.
We wanted to give people a way to manage these increases while improving their heating comfort, and we wanted to do it in a way that would allow them to see the savings this winter, not in ten winter.
This winter is expected to be especially harsh on consumers’ wallets. Atmos Energy Corp. recently hiked its forecast for natural gas utility bills in North Texas, predicting customers will pay 60 percent to 90 percent more this winter compared with last year after hurricanes boosted natural gas prices.
Traditional energy-saving measures such as insulation, weatherstripping, double-pane windows, and caulking are designed to seal air leaks, preventing heat from escaping. Power Smart economizes fuel consumption at the source—the furnace—for lower gas bills regardless of the home’s heat demand.
It’s important to weatherize your home, says Eric Barger, PowerSmart’s chief executive officer. With PowerSmart, you can buy it, install it in less than an hour, and start saving enough to recover your investment before the end of winter.
The PowerSmart comes do-it-yourself ready. Installation generally takes less than 30 minutes, and the PowerSmart works on all models of gas and propane forced-air furnaces, or about 90% of the furnaces in operation in North Texas today.
Most of us feel powerless to fight the rise in heating costs, adds Barger. We wanted to give people a way to manage these increases while improving their heating comfort, and we wanted to do it in a way that would allow them to see the savings this winter, not in ten winters.
